I know I said I’ll post about my Korea trip … but I’m still in the process of typing it out (it’s gonna be reaaaally long), so yup it’ll be up in the next few days because I’m mega busy these days …

So what’s this post about? I’ve actually been wanting to blog about something ever since last week actually. It’s about my latest commitment – volunteering.

As most of you already know, I was in the Adventure Camp subcomm as the secretary. Thankful that camp turned out okay despite certain hiccups around, but at least the youths had fun & hence I’ll (shamelessly) declare the camp to have been a success!

Recently, I got the chance to be appointed as v.chair of Youth Rangers committee ūüôā Glad to have gotten this amazing opportunity, and that I had the courage to step up and assume the role (after contemplations). Thank you to friends who helped me make this decision & gave me the courage to do so, because I don’t regret it one bit even though I just started embarking on this role.

It’s really an eye-opener how different things are as a v.chair, and I find myself reflecting + gaining¬†a lot¬†of insights after every YR related activity/meeting. Yes, my schedule is more packed than usual these days due to the countless meetings, but amidst the heavy workload, I find this really, really meaningful.¬†Not just as an individual, but as a committee/sector, where we really dedicate our thoughts into discussions etc.

As long as you put your heart into the things you’re doing, you’ll not find it a chore at all. And through volunteering, it makes you truly appreciate the little things in life that you may have been taking for granted all your life, which others can only hopelessly wish for. Volunteering really humbles people, making you able to empathize more for everyone around you. May the spirit of volunteering continue to spread like a healthy disease to more people, and let there be more love in the world :’)

There’s just so much more that I feel in my heart which I’m unable to express in words, but I feel it all, I really do. I sincerely thank the role models I’ve met thus far in NUS CSC, who have served as an inspiration for me to perform up to the best of my abilities. Alongside my committee, I hope that we will be able to bring Youth Rangers to greater heights. Being the pioneer batch isn’t easy, but I have confident that as a committee, we will be able to do it, and do it well.

Shall end off with a quote that’s rather apt in a sense pertaining to volunteering:

I hope you make the best of it.

And I hope you see things that startle you.

I hope you feel things you never  felt before.

I hope you meet people with a different point of view.

I hope you live a life you’re proud of.

If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.
